Blij persoon

Hi forum,

Waarom zegt/schrijft iedereen "blij persoon"? Het is de persoon. Dus het moet blije persoon zijn.

Is het een uitzondering? Ik kan niks vinden.

Re: Weduwnaar

Nee dat klinkt heel gewoon! - On the contrary bon-vivants would be strange. I think the point is here that in contrast to e.g. Russian a copula like zijn (быть) does not require concordance in number. Take e.g.: Het is een vis -- это ― рыба Het zijn vissen -- эти ― рыбы Or can you still say это in ...

That's weird, I could swear there was more discussion than this in the thread.

Did it get deleted? :\

Re: Weduwnaar

Thank you for explanation, ngonyama.

I've checked my ANS but couldn't find anything about it.

So mainly this phenomenon occurs with profession/status nouns?

And can it occur with more abstract character defining nouns? For example "A en B zijn allebei bon-vivant."? Of klinkt het raar?

Re: Weduwnaar

Does it mean you can say "Anne en Maria zijn weduwe."?

Weduwnaar

Hoi forum,

Ik heb dit in een omschrijving van een boek gevonden:

"Finkel an Libor zijn sinds kort weduwnaar."

Why not weduwnaars? Is there no plural for of this noun? Or is it used in different context?

To be honest I think "Uwe Edele" corresponds to "Ваше благоpодие" better.

What books did you read at school?

Hi, I'm reading "Karakter" by F. Bordewijk right now. I loaned a book from my bf's sister, and she said they had to read it at school. I think it would be a good idea to read the literature that was obligatory for the dutch people to read at some point to kind of understand the cultural references b...

Re: Books for B2-C1?

Als je eenmaal een bepaald niveau hebt bereikt, is het misschien nuttiger om te gaan leren door Nederlandse boeken te lezen, Nederlandse televisie te kijken en zoveel mogelijk met Nederlanders te praten. Als je nog vragen hebt kun je natuurlijk altijd hier terecht. Succes! Ja, dat begrijp ik. Maar ...

Some questions about "er" and "daar"

So I'm reading the rules on the usage of "er", but there aren't enough examples and some things aren't clear for me: 1) Interchangeability. For example, in many cases "er" can be substituted by "daar" (for more emphasis): "Ja, ik kom er regelmatig." "Ja, daar kom ik regelmatig." But in the following...

Re: Dutch TV shows

I'm enjoying the Dutch mafia-series called "Penoza". It's really good: http://penoza.kro.nl/seizoenen/1

And that silly Belgian show: "Foute Vrienden" :)
