Normaal zijn hier...

I have seen several times the following type of sentences: Normaal zijn hier van juni tot augustus rondleidingen. Normaal zijn hier meer mensen. This structure seems logical to me but basing which I studied up till now shouldn't be: Normaal zijn er hier van juni tot augustus rondleidingen. Normaal z...

Re: uitkijken

Hi Mr. Estarling, Chatting with "these wonderful volunteer language experts and receive their unconditional support" is really wonderful. If only I could arrive to such a level in my language knowledge! And which makes especially fine chatting with you personally is that you go beyond the linguistic...

Re: uitkijken

Hi Mr. Estarling, Thanks for your philosophical, meditative answer. But sincerely I would be more happy to find a nice and clear rule for example also for this case. Otherwise I can create my own nice and easily complet false ideas. Would it be possible for example to complete with this type of case...

Re: uitkijken

Thanks really a lot! The two "uit"s in the first sentence is of course my banal "copy and paste" mistake. I took the original sentences effectively from the internet (the first one comes from a grammar site, but there the topic was different). Your explanation seems to me very logical and one feels ...

uitkijken

My question is related to the following type sentences:

Kijk uit voor die fietsende man!
Kijk uit naar uw reactie!
Ik kijk uit naar de bioscoop.

And why not:

Kijk uit voor die fietsende man uit!
Kijk naar uw reactie uit!
Ik kijk naar de bioscoop uit.

?

Thanks a lot

Re: Position of the reflexive pronoun

Hi rae, Thanks really a lot. The "te"-synthesis is fantastic and also the one relative to the reflexive pronouns. The theory seems often clear, however problems arise at application level. Just to return to my very original question, the following sentence is not correct, is it? "Ik ben goed in me a...

Re: Position of the reflexive pronoun

Thanks awfully! I'm sorry, but one answer generates for me other questions and doubts. 1. This "te" is an additional aspect in this case for me. Is it missing also in the following sentence? "Ik ben redelijk goed in effectief communiceren." So that correctly would it be: "Ik ben redelijk goed in eff...

Position of the reflexive pronoun

Hy,

Which is the correct position of the reflexive pronoun in the following sentence?

"Ik ben goed in me aan nieuwe situaties aanpassen."
or
"Ik ben goed in aan nieuwe situaties me aanpassen."

or should be the word order completely different?

Thanks a lot

Re: Why and when "teruggaan tot in de tijd"?

Thanks a lot again, It is even worse: 3 in Hungarian, instead of harom, is három. I agree with you, the logic is perhaps not the correct terminology. I meant in general the (structural, grammatical, word usage, phrasing etc) differences in expressing the same concept in different languages, beyond o...

Re: Why and when "teruggaan tot in de tijd"?

Thanks a lot. So you could also say?: „Het water liep tot aan de kamer.” Heeeelp!! This is really very difficult for me. I have just often difficulties to understand if a certain preposition is a part of a separable verb actuallay separated of a preposition. Sincerelly basing on the logics and possi...

Why and when "teruggaan tot in de tijd"?

I'm reading in several cases the expression: "teruggaan tot in de tijd". E.g.: ...teruggaan tot in de tijd van Noach... Why not: ...teruggaan tot de tijd van Noach... ,so that without "in"? Or should it mean, that one does not return just to the beginning of this time, but enters in a whole period? ...

Re: "spreken met iemand" or "spreken iemand"?

Thank you really very much. Perhaps I begin to understand. Better to say I begin to understand that I don't understand. Perhaps should I consider also the verb "praten" for a better understanding? I have found a type of definition for both (https://onzetaal.nl/taaladvies/advies/praten-spreken), Basi...

Re: "spreken met iemand" or "spreken iemand"?

Thank you very much for the fast answer. For me it is disturbing only that the examples are taken from the Teach Yourself - Complete Dutch (level 4) textbook and the cases when in a similar situation it is used "met" muss less than the contrary. Even in my Dutch-Hungarian dictionary is written: "iem...

"spreken met iemand" or "spreken iemand"?

From the following two sentences, in the first is used the "met" preposition in combination with "spreken" , in the second one not: -Kan ik even met meneer Verhoeven spreken? -Zou ik meneer verhoeven kunnen spreken? When should one use "met"? Is it optional? So that would it be correct also: -Kan ik...

Which is the correct order among RP and EHD?

The following two sentences are taken from an exercise relative to the usage of the pronominal adverbs. Under the sentences I copied the expected solutions: Dat land bereidt zich weer voor (op oorlog) -> Dat land bereidt er zich weer op voor. Luc heeft mij gezegd dat hij zich (over zijn nieuwe promo...
