Re: School projcet

Als gevolg ervan verliest de grens haar scheidende eigenschap. Bijkomend kan je zien dat de grens en juiste mogelijk is . beter? :) Welnu, wat bedoelt je met de deel in vette letter? "The border and correct is possible"? Dat is heel onzinnig volgens mij. Of is er een andere betekenis van "juiste" d...

Re: "spreken met iemand" or "spreken iemand"?

First, I don't agree with ngonyama here - "iemand spreken" is perfectly correct Dutch in my opinion. Having said that: 1. Are the sentences (or which of them): -Kan ik even met meneer Verhoeven spreken? -Zou ik meneer Verhoeven kunnen spreken? and -Kan ik even meneer Verhoeven spreken? -Zou ik met m...

Re: How to pronounce these words

My question is - Do Dutch pronounce the "n" at the end of the word for example: willen, e ten I've heard these words from two different sources. In one source they pronounced "n" in another they did not What is the general rule. Or must it be applied to each word differently? This is a difficult qu...

Re: Kennen and weten

"Weten" is to know a fact: * Ik weet dat ik moe ben (I know I am tired) * Ik weet het antwoord op die vraag (I know the answer to that question) "Kennen" is "to know" in the sense of "to be acquainted with": * Ik ken hem al jaren (I have known him for years) * Ik ken deze stad goed (I know this city...

One small comfort: This is a place where Dutch speakers themselves break their legs too, though just with words ending on -d (where -d and -dt sound the same).

Bedankt voor de correcties en de verklaringen!

no. 7 is dit beter:

De inkomst is beveilingen. (I am trying to say "the income is secure").
Nee, dat is net zo onbegrijpelijk als het vorige. Correct zou zijn "De inkomsten zijn zeker" of "De inkomsten zijn veilig".

Nee, als je een voorzetsel gebruikt, moet het "even langs BIJ de Hema" zijn.

Re: pronunciation

One explanation could be that the prolonged "hoo" is spoken to emphasize the word. In that case the shorter "ho" would be standard. Another explanation could be that you heard "hoo" being pronounced by somebody from the south of the region (most notably in Limburg, both the Belgian and Dutch provin...

Re: A question about the word "moet" in a sentence..

The "ook" here functions to create more relationship within the text. It makes a connection between "Het prettigste vind ik..." and "Dat was prettig...", making clear that those two are not some kind of contradiction. Regarding the "moet" Quetzal already answered you. I would have used "should" rath...

Yes, they're both the same. One correction: "Ik heb een slechte humeur" should be "Ik heb een slecht humeur".

Re: Worden of Zijn?

We are taught to use worden , not zijn , to express the passive voice. However, would one say "het is geschreven" or "het wordt geschreven" to say "it´s written (on the board, on the menu)"?I´m not sure, but it seems to me it is indeed a passive (it is written by someone, right?) You would still us...

'Hardlopen' is better kept one word - "Vanavond ga ik naar het sportcentrum om te hardlopen."
