de/het druk?

Postby Fria » Thu Apr 15, 2010 1:41 pm

I don't get it:

In exercises there is a sentence:
Op kantoor is het druk.

But here: http://www.vandale.nl/vandale/opzoeken/ ... woord=druk
and here:http://woordenlijst.org/zoek/?q=druk&w=w it says it's de druk.

How come?

Thanks!

Hoi Fria,

de druk = the pressure (noun)
druk = busy, crowded (adjective)

In your sentence, druk is an adjective.
In this sentence, 'het' is not an article (the), but a pronoun (it).

It's busy = Het is druk.
The word order changes if you add 'op kantoor': Op kantoor is het druk.

Thanks, it's a really useful explanation! :-D
Haven't met het as a pronoun (it) many times yet, so it's confusing #-o
