Inversion after "dus"

Post by Mellifera » Fri Dec 20, 2013 7:28 pm

Should there be an inversion after "dus"?

Is it "Ik ben moe dus ga ik naar bed." OR "Ik be moe dus ik ga naar bed."

I can't find the rule for it anywhere.

Dank je!

I think both are correct. Here is a link in Dutch with the same question:

According to the link above you should use a comma before dus:
Ik ben moe, dus ga ik naar bed.
Ik ben moe, dus ik ga naar bed.
And a 3rd version: Ik ben moe, ik ga dus naar bed.

Hello Bert,

Thank you for a prompt and precise answer!

Also, can I ask if you learnt Dutch on your own or attended some university courses? Since I've seen you answer a lot of questions here, and your mother tongue isn't Dutch so I can't help being impressed. And inspired. Maybe some day I'll be as good at it. :-D

Thanks!

You're welcome.
On my own. I'm still in the process of learning. I'm not that good yet, but I can use the internet very well. :)
