Possession

Post by Crecker » Tue Dec 24, 2013 11:06 pm

Hello everybody!

Here is my doubt:
I wanted to say "This is the list of Facebook pages of the removed member".
I tried out with this: "Dit is de Facebook paginalijst van het verwijderd lid".

I'm not sure it is correct, I mean, too many possessions! I can't manage them! Can anybody tell me how it should be, please?

Thank you and merry Christmas :)

Dit is de lijst van Facebookpagina's van het verwijderde lid.

In this case it is a little dangerous to leave out the -e of 'verwijderde'. The expression can easily be misinterpreted as meaning a removed penis. In English too by the way. Geroyeerd is probably better than verwijderd.

That would've been one of the last meanings I'd have thought about, but hey: a dirty mind is a joy forever! :D

Instead of 'geroyeerd' (which sounds very posh), you could also use 'verbannen'.

I was thinking about this last night and I never considered that the member could've left by his/her own free will. In that case 'opgestapt' should be used.

Until now I (ingenuously) thought that only Italian had lots of synonyms for the same concept. I feel shocked and ignorant :-?
