NARIC: National Academic (& Professional) Recognition and Information Centre.

NARIC-Vlaanderen is the Flemish unit of the NARIC networkof the European Economic Area (EU + Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein). NARIC is only an advisory body (if you call it that) but it is the organisation to contact when you want to have your diplomas recognized ('erkenning') or compared ('vergelijking' or 'niveau-indicatie').

You can contact NARIC-Vlaanderen for information about:
  • access to higher education in Flanders
  • the Flemish educational system and diplomas
NARIC Vlaanderen prepares the recognition of:
  • foreign higher diplomas (tertiary education).
You can download the application form here (word document)
  • foreign professional teacher's qualifications (download the application form here)
This takes up to four months

Further, NARIC Vlaanderen prepares level indications of diplomas. A level indication is only an indication, not an official recognition. However, employers do value it and the procedure takes less time. You can download the application form here.

It lasts a long time though and they do not make your life easy... It took them almost a year to issue the equivalent of my diploma, only because in the meantime they lost my dossier twice
