Taxes

My plans for moving are slowly coming to fruition. Yay!
But I recently had a wake-up call, and realised I have no idea what taxes I'd have to pay. They can't be too different from the English taxes, but can anyone fill me in on what types of tax I should be expecting to pay?

Which country? Belgium and the Netherlands are rather different in that regard, I think - Belgium has the highest tax burden in the world after Sweden, the Netherlands somewhat less so (though probably still somewhat higher than British taxes).

Netherlands. I was thinking about Belgium, but should stay close to the family, and stick to one language at a time.

Er zijn twee dingen zeker in het leven. Je gaat dood en je moet belasting betalen.

Zo hebben we bijvoorbeeld de inkomstenbelasting.

De waterschapsbelasting, zuiveringsheffing, hondenbelasting, belasting toegevoegde waarde, gemeentebelasting, rioolbelasting, overdrachtsbelasting, wegenbelasting voor de auto, vermogensbelasting en zo kunnen we nog wel even doorgaan.

Laat je echter niet weerhouden door dit verhaal om naar Nederland te komen.
