The Netherlands have three nationwide channels for publicly-funded television . These channels can only make a fixed maximum amount of money from commercials. These commercials never interrupt broadcasts,

You can try http://www.nickelodeon.nl/turbonick
http://www.nps.nl/nps/sesamstraat/
Sesamstraat (Dutch Sesame Street) is really good.
It has some songs in the jukebox, and you can see other Sesamstraat stuff on You Tube (including scenes from the show).

One year ago I was living in Amsterdam. I'm not Dutch, I've just studied there at VU. I remember one really funny TV show which was called "New Kinds". I am not sure, but probably I've seen it a few times on Comedy Central. I am quite curious about the whole idea of this programme. Was it a parody of the American boy band New Kids on the Block in some kinda a Dutch sense of humour or just without any regional traces (only for fun)? It is my first post here and I hope that this forum allows me to re-start my Dutch lessons. Cheers!

It's "New Kids", not "New Kinds", and it doesn't have to do with New Kids on the Block.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but I used this website a lot to learn the language (before studying abroad in Maastricht). Of course, when living in the Lowlands one can just turn their TV on. But, I think it's a great way for people living in other countries to learn Dutch (if the player co-operates, that is).

I'm enjoying the Dutch mafia-series called "Penoza". It's really good: http://penoza.kro.nl/seizoenen/1

And that silly Belgian show: "Foute Vrienden" :)
