Dutch lessons powerpoint

Since it has become difficult to download my powerpoint lessons from eSnips, I'll try to upload them here directly.
I'm not allowed to upload a pps-file, so you'll have to open the ppt-file in powerpoint and start the slideshow (F5 will usually do that).
Here is lesson one. Can you try this one first, Shazzy? If it works I'll upload the rest tomorrow. The first lesson was more of an exercise for me. The other lessons are longer.

Ho Joke
It has downloaded ok and I have opened it in powerpoint ok but......
There is no sound and the actual buttons do not work..... Strange but it looks fantastic and I would love to get it to work somehow. any suggestions? Do you actually need the Internet to make it work as that might be the reason as I have not internet on my netbook. I need to download powerpoint on my laptop and see if that is the reason it is not working. I will do that on Monday as I am working all day tomorrow.

Groetjes en bedankt
Shazzy x

I use OpenOffice and have no sound either. On the other hand, all the other things work. I think 'Les 1' is too easy for you but as Joke has already mentioned the following lessons would be a bit more sophisticated. (As for me, yes, I just wanted to hear Joke's sometime voice. :))

Is there no sound at all, or is it only missing in the 'luisteren' part? Can you hear the sound if you click on a loudspeaker in e.g. the word list?
And did you run the slideshow? Buttons won't work if you're in the edit view.
It works perfect for me, even if I download it from here and store it in a different folder than where the sound files are.

Did not think of that Joke :D It was late and I had a stressful at work yesterday and I have not used powerpoint for over a year now lol I will go and check now.

Yes Bert I am sure some of them will be too easy but it will be interesting to work through them anyway and perhaps some of the other lessons will teach me something I do not know :D

I agree. Now and then we can learn new things from very simple lessons, for example I have learnt some body parts of an elephant ("slurf" and "slagtand") in this way. :)

Well Joke I have learnt something: that you can include sound files in PP. GREAT IDEA =D>

I would not mind trying putting together some exercises this way too. Perhaps some more higher level stuff like pronominal replacement or so. Can you tell me how to upload them here?

I downloaded the first one and yes, it works for me. I use firefox as browser and Windows vista as operating system.

Did you just use the mike of your laptop? It sounds a bit fuzzy. I got a Zoom H4n recorder with good mikes which will produce better sound quality.

I think I used the microphone that came with my webcam. But I don't remember, it's been a few years.
You can upload files here by choosing 'add attachment' (of 'bijlage toevoegen') below the field where you write your message.

It was quite a lot of work to make these lessons, but it can be made a lot easier if you don't care much about how they look.
I made eight btw and a couple of additional exercises in word format because it was too tiresome to make everything interactive. I'll see if I can upload the rest tonight.

If you want powerpoint to include large soundfiles, you have to change something in the options. Otherwise it will only link the sound file to it and you'll always have to provide the sound file with the powerpoint. And I think it only works with .wav files, so you quickly get very large files. Or you can just record the sounds directly in powerpoint. Then they are linked automatically. That's how I recorded the word lists and other short sounds.

That will be great Joke when you have time! I think its amusing two Dutch people talking English to each other :D

I would be glad to try them out for you ngonyama but not if they are too hard. I am only at A2 level at the moment but very keen to learn.

They may have taken you a long time to make Joke but if students can still benefit from them years after you made then that is well worth it don't you think? I have been reading some stories of students in the forum who have encountered problems with going to classes so perhaps this is a way they can learn in their own home. I know studying at home works as that is how I have learnt most of my Dutch but you just need the right encouragement. I must admit I have been doing homestudy courses with a tutor whic obviously helps especially if you do shift work like I do or live in a coubtry where classes are very limited. I also know how much I have improved by just being part of the forum so thanks for doing all this for us.

Sorry, but I'm not sure anymore: can you now hear the sound in lesson 1 or not?

Yes Joke It all works well sound and everything. I was not running the presentation before but just looking at the slides silly me. It worked really well so I look forward to working through the other lessons if you are able to put them on here.

Bedankt :D
