Dutch lesson

Hoi allemaal,

Some weeks ago, I found a nice interactive Chinese course at the internet and I thought it would be good to have something like that for Dutch. Unfortunately I don't have the equipment and the program skills to make such a beautiful course, but I tried something similar using powerpoint. I tried to make a very basic first lesson. You can watch and try it here.

I would like to know if it works for people that:
- use older computers or older version of powerpoint;
- work on a mac instead of a pc;
- are blind;
- ...
In short: if it works for everyone.

Can you hear the sounds? Do all buttons bring you to the right place? Did I make mistakes in English (or worse: in Dutch)?

And of course the most important question: Do you like it?

I don't have PowerPoint, only the "PowerPoint viewer" that comes with Microsoft Works, but it works fine. The lay-out is very nicely done, too.

For the linking exercise with only 3 questions in my lesson to work properly I needed 3 + 2 + 1 = 6 slides. When I want to make exercises that are larger, the number of slides and also the file size increases rapidly.
Therefore I tried something different that takes only one slide, no matter how large the exercise. You can try it in the file 'Oefening.pps' at esnips.
An extra advantage of this approach is that you can choose the order of answering yourself.
Please tell me what you think of it.

I liked the first one better. I can't draw a straight line with the mouse. :D It's cool that you're doing this.

Wat een PowerPointkunstenaar!

The PowerPoint viewer that Quetzal mentioned can be downloaded (for free) at: ... laylang=en

If this link does not work, just look for "PowerPoint viewer" on

An alternative (also free) is available at the Open Office suite at

Hallo allemaal,
Lesson 2 in my Dutch couse is now available for downloading here.

Please be aware of the fact that it is not my intention to be complete in grammar. I can never beat Bieneke in that. Therefore I linked to the corresponding page where possible.

DM7 made me aware of the importance of the place of the stress in a word, so I decided to underline the stressed sylables in the word list and the read section.

I'm slowly getting crazy from all those buttons that have to link to the right place, so if something doesn't work, please let me know.

More lessons will follow, but please be patient since I'll start working again next week and it takes a lot of time to make a new lesson.

Groetjes Joke

[edit] Tom tested it and found out that the sound doesn't work correctly. So I removed it to fix that. When everything seems to work I'll upload it again. [/edit]

Joke --

Bedankt voor jouw geweldig oefeningen!!  Ik was op vacantie en net de lessen gemerkten.
Thanks for your great exercises!  I was on vacation and just found the lessons.

Ik deed alles vijf in een rij.  Ik hou vooral van de (matching) oefening op de eind.
I did all five in a row.  I especially like the matching exercise at the end.

Je verdient van me een speciale pronkstuk -- een groote omhelzingen!
You earn from me a special prize -- a big hug!

I hope I didn't say anything out of line with my poor nederlands.  You have done a fabulous job with putting these lessons together.  The sound files matched with the words are a BIG help for us non-Dutch speakers.  With my computer Mevrouw Jansen covers up some of the lesson with her helpful tips (and she cannot be turned off) -- but I am NOT complaining.   :D

Bedankt een paar meer keren,
