Het Dutchgrammar Radio Hour, Deel 2

Would you like to publish your own sound files? As a Dutch native speaker, you can create sound files to help Dutch learners. If you are studying Dutch, you can record your voice to practice your pronunciation -- and ideally, let the rest of us enjoy it too. :)

Het Dutchgrammar Radio Hour, Deel 2

Post by EetSmakelijk » Mon Apr 23, 2007 8:56 pm

Hoi mensen. :D
Ik heb voor jullie een paar vraagjes. I have a few small questions for you.

1. Does anybody else want to audition for the next show? If so, should we use the shrek thing or should we find something new for try-outs?

2. Shall we continue the Jane Eyre (too lazy to check the spelling of that) play or would you all like to do something else before we do Jane again?

3. If we do something else, what?

4. Who's going to write another song so we can have Dutchgrammar songs in each new show? :P

5. If we do Jane Eyre again, are there going to be enough characters so that new people can have a part and keep the people who already have characters in their current roles or do we adjust some of the parts?

I think that's most of the questions for now. ;)

I'd like to try out for a potential actual speaking part in the next show.   :D

When you decide on the audition requirements, please let me know.

Since nobody has objected strenuously, we are going to use the Shrek scene again to do our auditie. :D
Here is the Shrek stuff with the English between the Dutch lines.
Please record them and let one of the Dutch natives hear you. It's not too scary, I've always found them to be very patient and helpful with pronunciation. When you are confident and ready, please let me know thatyou aced your auditie and I'll add you to the list of people in the show. Anybody from last show is utomatically in unless you say you are bored of the show and want out. :P
Everybody is welcome, no previous experience of acting or Dutch required, all you need is enthusiasm and willingness to learn and have fun. ;)
Ok, now here's the lines:

This is from "Try a little tenderness":
DONKEY - Hey, Shrek, wait, wait! Hey, wait a minute. Look, you want to do this right,
don't you?
EZEL - Hé, Shrek, wacht, wacht! Hé, wacht nou even. Je wilt dit toch goed doen?
SHREK - What are you talking about?
SHREK - Ezel, waar heb je het nu toch over?
DONKEY - There's a line. There's a line you gotta wait for. The priest is gonna say,
"Speak now or forever hold your peace." And that's when you say, "I object!"
EZEL - Die zin. Je moet goed op die zin letten. De priester zal zeggen: “Spreek dan
nu en zwijg voor eeuwig”. En dan moet jij zeggen: “Ik protesteer!”
SHREK - Oh. I don't have time for this.
SHREK - Oh, ik heb hier helemaal geen tijd voor.
DONKEY - Hey wait, wait. What are you doin'? Listen to me. Look, you love this woman,
don't you?
EZEL - Hé, wacht, wacht. Wat ga je
doen? Luister nou effe. Je houdt van die vrouw? Ja toch?
SHREK - Yes.
SHREK - Ja.
DONKEY - You want to hold her?
EZEL - Wil je haar hebben?
SHREK - Yes.
SHREK - Ja.
DONKEY - Please her?
EZEL - Wil je haar houwen?
SHREK - Yes.
SHREK - Ja!
DONKEY - Then you... gotta, gotta try a little tenderness! The chicks love that romantic
crap.
EZEL - Toon dan asje-asjeblieft een
beetje tederheid! Wijfies zijn gek op
die onzin.
SHREK - All right! Cut it out! When does this guy say the line?
SHREK - Oké, hou op! Wanneer zegt
die vent die ene zin dan?
DONKEY - We gotta check it out.
EZEL - Gaan we nu uitzoeken.
P.S. You can do either one or both parts, doesn't matter.

OK

I made an audition tape and posted it here:

http://www.esnips.com/doc/d6f91cdd-d9f9 ... Audition-1

My "voice coaches" are still working with me to improve, but they said it was ok to submit this effort.

Any and all feedback from our resident experts will be gratefully appreciated!

Janeera,
I think you did it very well. Well done. I think that you can take part in the next show. But of course Eetsmakelijk must decide.
Ik denk dat U het heel goed hebt gedaan. Goed zo.  Ik denk dat U in de volgende tentoonstelling kunt meedoen. Maar Eetsmakelijk moet natuurlijk beslissen.

As far as I know, there is no age restriction.
Please put it on esnips, or PM one of the native speakers and discuss with them how they can get the files if you don't want to make it public on esnips.
I don't know what the show will be about yet, right now it's just try-out time and it doesn't matter if your Dutch is perfect or not, if you speak any Dutch at all you'll get in.
The show is about practicing and learning, not about being perfect. As long as people are understandable, everything is cool. :D
I look forward to hearing you!

Anybody from the last show is in, so yep, you're in.
This show is for practice, so your accent will only improve. :D

I hear some noise in the audio but the Dutch sounds great to me although I am no native speaker and can't be sure. :P
