Applying for an MVV before passing the Inburgeringsexamen

NT2 is 'Nederlands als Tweede Taal' or 'Dutch as a second language. 'Inburgering' is 'integration'. Many people who settle in the Netherlands have to do the 'inburgeringsexamen' or 'Staatsexamen NT2'. In this subforum, you can ask questions about this exam. If you have already done the exam, you are warmly invited to share your experience with us!

i have a bf here in netherlands and im currrently here for 3 months
were planning to apply for the MVV when i get back to the philippines
and take up my exam for the basic exam in february at the embassy.
do i have to take the exam first before we could apply for a positive advice
from the IND? or can we apply for it now even i haven't take the exam?
coz we thought we would save some more time if we don't have to wait
until i get back to the philippines...

thanks and have a good day

Hello Zhamira,

You can apply for an MVV before you have passed the Inburgeringsexamen. There has been some confusion over this and in the past, the IND (Dutch Immigration authority) has rejected several MVV applications only because the applicant had not passed the Inburgeringsexamen yet.

In July this year, a woman whose application was rejected on this ground, took her case to court and won.

If anyone at the IND tells you otherwise, you can refer to court case LJN: BD7189, Rechtbank 's-Gravenhage , zittingsplaats Amsterdam , AWB 07/18932 (source: http://zoeken.rechtspraak.nl/resultpage ... ljn=BD7189).

I am sorry, I was probably not clear: You do not have to pass the exam first. That is what the court case was about.
