Hey everybody! I'm Andrew, I live in the UK but I'm from South Africa and have a fascination with linguistics. I speak English, Afrikaans, some Zulu, and now a bit of Dutch. My goal is to be fluent by next year this time. I love the Netherlands and hope to spend a lot more time there.

Hallo Andrew, welkom!

Knowing Afrikaans will certainly help you with understanding Dutch, especially when written. OTOH there's of course also the increased risk of encountering 'false friends'.
