I urgently need help with translation!!

Hello guys!

I'm new to this forum and I don't know much, but I'm really need some help with translation. I don't know any Dutch speakers, so the only help I can get is to come from you...

There's a Dutch emblem of the 17th century and it pictures a porcupine. There's a text that seems Chinese to me, but I've got to decipher it for my scientific work. Could you please... PLEASE help me?

Zulk eene zaeke van belang
Die ons de Spreuk der Grieken meld
Is, eer de nood den Egel quelt,
En schier het leven maekt te bang,
Zijn zorge en toezicht loos genoeg
By hem geoeffent laet en vroeg:
Want al den strengen tijd, dat hy
Blijft zitten in zijn donker kot,
Sluit hy (by?) zijn voordeur met een schot,
En maekt zijn schuilhol vrank en vry,
O loosheid! daer het onweer raest,
En uit het Oost of Noorden blaest;
Maer achter opent hy 't klinket,
Om onderwijl door 't aengenaem.

I'm not sure how this language is different from Modern Dutch, I sure hope you can decipher that.

Thanks for any help!!!

Do you need a translation into Modern Dutch or English? And a little info on the emblem or even a picture would help ...

I'd be extremely grateful if you could translate it into English.

It might surprise you, but there's nothing else on the emblem except for the porcupine on the ground. That's all, seriously

I'll try but it is pretty obscure and certainly not modern Dutch. There are a few words I had to look up like "loos" http://www.etymologiebank.nl/trefwoord/loos1 and "klinket" http://www.encyclo.nl/zoek.php?woord=klinket

Zulk eene zaeke van belang Such a thing of importance
Die ons de Spreuk der Grieken meld that the Motto of the Greeks reports to us
Is, eer de nood den Egel quelt, is, ere calamity tortures the Hedgehog
En schier het leven maekt te bang, en virtually makes life too frightful
Zijn zorge en toezicht loos genoeg his worry and oversight dishonest enough
By hem geoeffent laet en vroeg: practiced by him late and early
Want al den strengen tijd, dat hy For all the severe time that he
Blijft zitten in zijn donker kot, remains seated in his dark shed
Sluit hy (by?) zijn voordeur met een schot, he closes his front door with a bulkhead
En maekt zijn schuilhol vrank en vry, and makes his hideaway free
O loosheid! daer het onweer raest, O deceitfulness, where the bad weather rages
En uit het Oost of Noorden blaest; and blows from the East or North
Maer achter opent hy 't klinket, But aft he opens the escape hatch
Om onderwijl door 't aengenaem. in order to meanwhile ... by the pleasurable...

I think the text is truncated

I'm not sure how this language is different from Modern Dutch, I sure hope you can decipher that.

Well, I tried, but much sense it not maketh
Thanks for any help!!!
