verb+end or ing

Hi all,

this is my first post here;)

I am a bit confused about the ending of a verb to make it like a adjective. Can I always used -end to end a verb, like drogend. Or shall I also use -ing, just like in English. Thanks a lot for any answer.

Hi and welcome yuchenzhang,

You can turn a verb into an adjective by using infinitive + d.
The infinitive is the form of a verb that you find in dictionary. The infinitive almost always ends in -en so that makes your new adjective end in -end.
In Dutch, you cannot use -ing to turn a verb into an adjective as in English.
