opgenomen worden- to be admitted (hospital)

Post by dana m » Mon Sep 15, 2014 6:33 pm

Hi,
I found on www.antosch-and-lin.com 2 exemple sentences about the using of this expression:
He was admitted to a hospital after he had eaten bad food
She passed away yesterday, 20 hours after she was admitted into hospital following a car crash.
I didn't understand where it is the word "worden" in the second sentence and, if is not, why? How can you understand that is about that expression in the second sentence?
Thank you!
