Ideas for learning Dutch. What have you tried? What worked for you? What did not work for you?

That is still a great opportunity! I'll bet that you will get a job in in The Netherlands later on. Have fun!

Oh, I'm not looking for a job there. I'm hoping to do some research there someday, or maybe take on a "gastdocentschap" during one of my sabbaticals. But I will definitely have fun! Two months of doing nothing but concentrating on learning Dutch--it sounds like heaven.

Firefly,
What programs do you like on Radio Nederland? I listen to it just about every day.

Hi Dora,
I listen to RadioNL --- "Ik luister Hollandse." Er zijn heel liedjes en het nieuws elke uur en half uur. En met jou?
Groetjes,
Cathleen

I study Dutch for about 8 hours per day plus about 3 or 4 hours of immersion. Some days I don't study at all and watch movies, listen to audiobooks/radio/music for hours on end. I try to put myself in a Dutch environment as much as possible. My mp3 player is in Dutch, this forum and another one, my operating system (Fedora 12), and search engine. When I can, I'll be using wikipedia and other sites in Dutch too, but I'm not a visitor of many sites really. The more Dutch the better!

That's really quite impressive! (You're making me feel somewhat guilty about my own efforts in learning Spanish now )At this rate you'll be speaking and writing Dutch fluently in no time!

I used to spend about 2-3 hours per day here but now as my schedule is pretty busy (getting home at 8 pm every day..) I can't spend as much as I'd like to.
