It's spitting with rain. = Het druppelt. / Het druipt.
of
Zachte regen daalt. (van Zachte regen daalde. ----- http://www.uitmuntend.de/search.html?se ... &action=go!)

Oh, I may have interpreted "it's spitting" wrongly then. I thought it meant raining so hard that it hurts or so. Does it mean raining softly?
I actually tried to look up the expression because I wasn't really sure, but couldn't find it.
"Het druppelt (een beetje)" means that you experience the odd droplet coming down but it is not really raining (yet).
"Het druipt" is more what happens in a wet forest: drops fall off the leaves, not necessarily small ones.

"Het miezert" also means a soft rain but that the drops are tiny.

Is " Zachte regen daalt." juist?
