How would you translate the following sentences?

1) He settled in Paris, where he scraped a living writing short stories and magazine articles.
2) Because I don't earn very much, I barely manage to scrape a living.
3) We can just scrape along on the money I earn from my sewing.
3) Because my wages are low, I just scrape along.
4) Do you think you can scrape along with just $400 per month?

1)Hij vestigde zich in Parijs, waar hij een karig bestaan leidde door korte verhalen en tijdschriftartikelen te schrijven
2)Omdat ik niet veel verdien kan ik de eindjes maar net aan elkaar knopen
3)We kunnen er net van komen met het geld dat ik verdien met naaien
3bis) Omdat mijn loon zo laag is, leef ik van de hand in de mond.
4)Denk je dat je kunt rondkomen van slechts $400 in de maand?
