Are more Dutch TV stations now region-restricting content?

Post by Dave114 » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:18 am

I was trying to watch Dutch television to help improve my ability to understand the language, but noticed that for the past while some of the shows that I was watching no longer seem to be available - their websites are available but I get an error attempting to view any episodes.

uitzendinggemist.nl and rtl.nl still work, but SBS6, Net5, and Veronica no longer seem to be working (all shows I used to watch no longer work).

Just wondering if anyone is able to watch any of those feeds as the error message I'm seeing is a little ambiguous. (If you're able to view anything, are you in Netherlands, Belgium, Europe, or elsewhere? I'm in North America).

Cookies are on. There was a notification about the website making use of cookies at the top of the page which I dismissed. Still no luck.

The ads play, but below is the message that I see when the actual program tries to play.
De video die u wilt
bekijken, is momenteel niet beschikbaar.

Probeer het binnenkort nog

Error Code:
unavailableContent
It says that I should try again, but as I'm seeing this message for quite some time now I'm suspecting region restrictions are the real problem at this point.

I can't view them either. That's a shame, since watching TV is a great way to learn.

YouTube staat ook vol met (afleveringen van) series en fragmenten, mocht dat als een noodoplossing werken.

Zolang 'Koek en ei' beschikbaar is, maak ik me geen zorgen. :)
