Pronunciation of 'ei' and 'ij'

Are they pronounced the same?

[spelling en uitspraak]
How do you pronounce 'gezellig'? What is the difference between 'eu' and 'ui'? How do you write...? You can use the phonetic keyboard if you are familiar with phonetic symbols.

Pronunciation of 'ei' and 'ij'

What about the pronunciation of Dutch diphtongs "ij" and "ei"? I know that the latter sounds like (ɛi), doesn' it? But I've noticed that some Dutch speakers pronounce it like (ai).
Ik ben een beetje in de war! :? I haven't any problems in pronouncing the "ij" sound instead...it seems simplier. :)

doei doei!!

Hallo Lief Nederland,

De ij en ei worden precies eender uitgesproken: /ɛi/. De uitspraak /ɑi/ wordt als substandaard, 'plat' beschouwd, hoewel hij nogal nogal populair is, vooral onder jonge vrouwen.

IJ and ei are pronounced in exactly the same way: /ɛi/. The pronunciation /ɑi/ is considered substandard, 'broad,' though it's rather popular, especially amongst young women.

Groetjes,
Wim
