Going to see/visit

Post by Crecker »

Hello! And happy carnival! :D (Here in Bologna it is raining :-? )

I was wondering how to translate this: "This evening two boys are going to see* our house". (*probably "visit" is more appropriate since these people are looking for a place to move to)

I tried with:
- Vanavond komen twee jongens ons huis te zien.
- Vanavond gaan twee jongens ons huis zien.

Thank you everybody! :)

"I tried with:

Nice try. Without 'te' the sentence would be almost correct. It's just that 'zien' isn't right.

"- Vanavond gaan twee jongens ons huis zien."
It's definitely not 'gaan' because that would imply that you wouldn't be there yourselves. Also the sentence could imply that the house isn't visible to them now.

Two possible sentences:
- Vanavond komen twee jongens ons huis bekijken.
- Vanavond komen twee jongens ons huis bezichtigen.

I think that last one would be the best one. If you mean that people are checking out the place, 'bezichtigen' is the right word.

btw thanks for the best wishes for Carnaval ... I don't like the fest, but I appreciate the thought.
