Pluperfect - Mijn cavia eet een wortel

Pluperfect - Mijn cavia eet een wortel

In the independent online class, I had to change "Mijn cavia eet een wortel." to pluperfectum. My answer "Mijn Cavia had een wortel gegeten." was not accepted. The AI said that the correct sentence is "Mijn cavia had daarna nog een wortel gegeten." Meanwhile, I can write "Hij had koffie gedronken." as the pluperfect version of the sentence "Hij drinkt koffie."

Why did the AI or program developer ask for "daarna nog" in the guinea pig sentence and not the human man? Or was I correct and the AI was just being silly?
