word order / adjective ending

1/ Is the word order the unique possibility, or can we say

> Hoe de paradox in de twee afgelopen eeuwen is ontstaan

? - German order maybe

2/ Why afgelopen and not afgelopene? De for the plural en afgelopen used as an adjective

My personal preference would be the first one. That doesn't mean that the second one is not allowed, but for me it sounds a bit strange.

About 'afgelopen' or 'afgelopene'. If I Google 'afgelopene' I don't get many hits. I guess it was a form in the past but the form mutated to 'afgelopen' because we also say 'houten' as an adjective and not 'houtene'. But it's just my guess, I don't know for sure.
English isn't my first/best language. So in advance: Sorry for any mistakes!

Thanks, it seems to be the same with eigen, I think that de eigen beperking (sg) and de eigen beperkingen (pl) are correct, would you confirm?

Yes, those are both correct. 'Eigene' isn't correct, only in 'het eigene' (the characteristic)
