Translation exercises

Post by Crecker »

Hi there! :)

This is my "problem": I don't feel the real necessity to learn Dutch! My partner speaks Italian and, in the world where we live, English is the key for everything. So, unless my partner is going to ask me to marry and has bought two one-way tickets to Belgium with tomorrow as leaving date and wants to live happily ever after, it is absolutely necessary to find a way to keep studying this wonderful language.

Here another problem: my vocabulary is very very very small, so I was wondering if any of you knows any websites where I can find translation exercises (both English to Dutch and Dutch to English).

I have the will to keep studying, but I must find a stronger reason to do it! While I'm living in Italy, it just seems to be unnecessary and since university occupies already a big slice of my time I'm afraid that one day I'll drop.

Thank you for reading, understanding and helping! :)

I don't think any site can convince your partner to abduct you to Belgium. :D

But one thing you could do is become active on nl.wiktionary.org and add some Italian there. I have been brushing up my Russian by adding Dutch words on ru.wiktionary.org and I am starting to read it more easily now. Of course the vocabulary I learn is rather linguistic, but you can pick and choose what you want to work on. Perhaps start with sapere or so? :P
