sentence with infinitive proposition

Post by logicgate »

Is this sentence correct?
Het zal erom gaan, dunkt me, dat hij een geheel nieuwe weg inslaat.
I mean

"The point, it seems to me, will be for him to take a whole new path."

I wanted to use an infinitive object proposition, something like

Het zal erom gaan, dunkt me, een geheel nieuwe weg in te slaan.

But then I don't know how to translate the "for him".

Is "dunkt me" appropriate here and how to improve?

"Dunkt me" has a meaning like 'seems to me', that's correct. But it's a bit old-fashioned. More often used: "lijkt me".

Your sentence is correct, I don't understand your question about 'infinitive object proposition', I never heard of it.
English isn't my first/best language. So in advance: Sorry for any mistakes!
